About
Dr Harry Thirkettle
I’m a healthtech operator, mentor and coach to founders, and a UK-trained doctor. I work where medicine, technology and human performance overlap, and the common thread is turning clinical insight into health innovation that survives contact with the real world.

Healthtech operator
I have spent the last decade in digital health, across startups, scale-ups and complex healthcare environments. At my mhealth I led the deployment of digital therapeutic apps across NHS organisations and built the commercial function from the ground up, which is the honest way to learn enterprise healthcare sales. In my current role as Director of Health & Innovation at Aire Logic, I work across strategy, operations, innovation and growth in a healthtech consultancy delivering complex digital work across healthcare, including major national programmes.

Founder support
I’m Business & Commercial Lead for the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, one of the world’s leading clinical entrepreneurship programmes, and co-founder of MedTech Mentor, where I support clinicians and early-stage healthtech founders with validation, product strategy, business models and commercialisation. I have mentored hundreds of founders, and I have a soft spot for the clinician staring at a promising idea with no idea what to do next, because I have been that clinician.

Clinical foundation
I trained in medicine in the UK, earned an MBChB and MRCS and completed core surgical training before moving from full-time clinical practice into health technology. Medicine taught me the things that never leave: how care is actually delivered, why safety and evidence matter, and what it feels like when systems fail the people inside them. That foundation shapes everything I build and advise on.
Human performance
I also write about health, habits and performance, drawing on a lot of reading, training with the Institute for Functional Medicine, and a fair amount of testing things on myself. I was the classic “your bloods are normal” patient who still felt terrible, dug into the evidence, and rebuilt my health from the basics. The writing shares what holds up, for people doing demanding work.

Current interests
Alongside my current work, I write and speak about healthtech, clinical innovation and human performance. I’m particularly interested in what it takes for AI in healthcare to move from promise to adoption, in how clinical innovation ecosystems can learn from each other internationally, and in prevention as the only serious answer to healthcare demand that keeps outrunning capacity.
